WHO I AM

I am running for a spot as a Senate representative in the DSU elections 2015.

Program: Political Science and Economics

Experience: Vice president of high school, on residence council this year, job in the NS government

Platform

Not every faculty is represented in the Senate. This means that increased dialogue between the Senate and all faculties is necessary. This is why I propose at least bi-monthly meetings between the Senate Reps and all faculty societies. While I may not know what specific faculties want or need for their program, I can certainly do my part to research and listen to what every faculty has to say.

Increased Transparency of Budget

We pay a lot of money to our universities. We should have full knowledge and understanding of where that money is going. This means faster and easier access to updates on funding at Dalhousie. As a Senate Rep, I would keep updates on all my social media platforms. In increasing transparency of monetary policy changes, I believe that student opinion about where they want money to go will start to grow.

I want to increase the amount of bills that come directly from the student body. To do this, I am willing to work with any substantial group with a policy goal. With passion from the student body and my experience in policy we have the opportunity to create and lobby for bills that can change our academic programs, regulations and disciplinary issues. Because who knows what we want and need better than us?

Stong Student Voice

Students have realized the year of a strong student voice in the Senate. As a representative, I would not only be an antendent of Senate sittings, but also a strong debator, voice and female representative. We should make the student's voice the most important voice. I can promise that I will fully devote myself to speaking on behalf of all groups at Dalhousie. Student representatives should be as active, or more active than all other members of the Senate.
